Welcome to iboats. Since you have had no replies yet I'll give it a stab. Just turn the key to run and hold it in for a five count then try to start. That will activate your primer solenoid and shoot some gas in the cylinders. Acts kinda like the old choke used to. What is your startup procedure now?

No primer on a Ficht.

What do you mean, "leave key on several times to start"? What year is this Ficht?

When you hook a digital voltmeter to the starter B+ post, and the starter frame, what does the voltage read while the motor is cranking over?

If I just turn key on without priming(leave in on till pump quits),it will not start without doing this several times, turning key off and on till pump quits. Then it will start. Runs great after starting. It is a 2000 model fitch 200 hp

Try priming for several seconds before hitting the key for the first start.

One possible problem could be the fuel pressure regulator inside the electric fuel pump cannister assembly. If it will not hold pressure, you will get hard starting. It is easily checked by refering to the service manual on testing fuel rail pressure and seeing if the system holds pressure after turning the key to OFF.
