Hi boys, hope all are having a great fri nite, I need some advice I have a 200 hp oceanpro. It was winterwised and put to sleeep in Jan 08. At that time it ran well. Today I put boat in water (late this yr been sick for 4 months) After putting in water I went to shift at about 850 >900 rpm Engine stalled, It started back up But keep on stalling at low rpm , such as coming into dock. Also it did not reach top RPMS only about 3700. Bottom end (gear box) was brand new last year, and I have excellent compression in all cyl. Any sugggestions ? Tnx for any advice. toghog

sounds like untreated fuel was left in the carbs. are you sure you are running on all cylinders.

Tnx for the reply, when I laid up for winter I put in sta bil gas treatment also 2 plus 4 carb cleaner also enzyne for the e 10 . I pulled plugs squirted in a little oil in each hole and sprayed up carbs with fogging oil, I did not spray in while running ( probably my problem ) I thought all of the above mixes in the tank would be fine. Do you reccomend rebuilding carbs ? and if so how diffucult is that. I am mechanical, just not a outboard ace. Last yr my stalling problem was my lower unit. The casting that holds the bearing races were cracked and the gear box had to be replaced. After that expensive repair the motor ran fine. I just put it in the water yesterday ( been sick since april ) Started fine just low rpms and a lot of stalling while shifting at dock. If I shift fast and use higher rpm's all is fine. Any more advice would be great. Have a great evening, Tog

let's start by pulling spark plug wires one at a time, while it is running. listen for the rpms to change each time. you could be dropping a cylinder. if you get one that doesn't change, check the spark, if good spark, that carb could not be delivering fuel.

Did you happen to notice if it's stalling coming out of gear?

I had a similar experience 2 weeks ago and it turned out to be the switch hanging up. The switch momentarily kills s a bank of cylinders to allow you to shift out of gear. If the switch is sticking or shorting out it will cause the symptoms you describe.

The switch is located on the port side next to the shift levers. Follow the wire up to the connector and unplug it. Use a voltmeter and check for continuity between the wire and ground when you active the switch. The circuit should be normally open

Same here. My 94 150 oceanrunner shift switch was sticking. I replaced it and all is well. It can be tested.

Actually it's on the starboard side, same as all the cables & linkage.
