200 HPDI goes dead

At about 2500 RPM yesterday, my starboard 200 HPDI lost all power and then only the tach for the port engine functioned. All other guages are dead. I cannot lift the starboard engine. The main switch is dead. The battery is good. There is power at the engine. The 20 amp fuse for the "main switch/lift" was blown. Replacing the fuse and turning on the battery immediatley blows the fuse. Thoughts for further diagnosis?

its time to trace for a short circuit in the power feed wiring. that motor uses a relay for power feed. somewhere along the line the wiring on the red lead has chafed through. good luck and keep posting

rodbolt, where is the best place to start the search. I am reasonably competent and reasonably persistent. But I know zip about outboard motor electrical systems. I had the cowling off tonight and started to poke around on my own with kind of the same hunch. Since power is reaching the motor it must be . . . how do I spot the power feed wiring?

hello<br /> off the top of my head I cant remember the color code for the main relay. if the fuse wont blow until after you turn the ign on then I will assume the short circuit is on the yellow wire from the keyswitch to the relay.you will heve to have the shop service manual. luckily yamaha started color coding the manual and its actually in color for that motor.if I get a chance I will look through my manual tomorrow and see what I can see that would be easy to check.<br /> good luck and keep posting
