200 Johnson, 94, Tach Wire?

Above motor, putting this all back together I find that the gray tach wire dead ends before it gets to the motor with a spade terminal on the end.... I've no idea where its supposed to go to get signal for the tach, all existing when i bought the boat, IE the tach and the wire, but the motor was not wired and was bad, and replaced with the above motor so I need to know where to find the sending wire??

Find the water cooled voltage regulator/rectifier and its wire that lead to a terminal strip. One of those wires from the reg/rec assy will be gray. The tachometer gray (sensor) wire should be connected to that gray terminal wire.

Normally that gray wire is incorporated within the instrument and engine wiring harness..... strange that it should be seperate.
