200 Mercury

I have a Merc 200 that want run after starting. It starts and revs up but dies after 10-15 seconds. Starts fairly quick, but want idle after starting. It will only start with fast idle engaged. Checked compression and have even comp all across the cyls.

The carb is dirty, clean it.

Once you mentions carb problem, I went to checking fuel related problem. I found the problem. Gas and water don't burn real well. I know, I should have checked that first. Sometimes I can't see the trees for the forest.
