I recently bought a boat with a 2000' 200 opti on it. It has 1000 hrs. on it. The previous owner said it was running pretty decent still. However, he had taken it in to the dealer and had the compression checked and five holes were at 90 psi (which to me isn't that great) and one hole was 70 psi. I bought the boat sight unseen because the price I got it for was insanely low. I decided if it ran poorly I would just swap out the powerhead. So I get it home and I stick it on the muffs. It starts up and idles a little rough. It has a miss at idle. The miss isn't as noticeable at higher rpms but is still there I'm convinced. The water pump is bad so I wasn't able to run it long before the temp alarm starting going off. So I aborted and have to install a new pump. I did feel like the miss was an electrical miss. It was too abrupt to be a fuel miss at least it seemed to me. I did find a wire on the temp sensor that has a nick in the insulation so I'll have to replace the sensor because wires are showing. What is normal compression on these engine? I"m assuming around 120 psi.
