Hi,
I have a year 2000 200hp ficht (E200FPXSSH). After running fine all day, coming in I got a check engine light & horn. 15 seconds later the motor stopped dead. It cranks but will not restart. The CE light did not come on anymore after turning off/on the ignition (except for the start up sequence where all the lights come on then go off).
I pulled the codes and got 81-86 Ignition Coil Open Primary on all 6 coils. No other codes are present. I checked the coils and they are all good (proper resistance primary and secondary). I appear to have good battery voltage. No fuses are blown. The fusible link to the EMM is good.
My questions:
1) Can anything else, other than a bad EMM, could cause this problem (large blue capacitor)?
2) Why don't I get a CE light when I go to start?
Everything I've read points to the EMM, but it seems strange the EMM would detect a problem (with the motor continuing to run for 15 seconds or so) then shut down and be blown. I did change my flywheel about 2 weeks ago, but the motor has been running fine since then (about 5-10 hours with the new flywheel). I did not change the stator.
