2000 200hp yamalube gear lube or generic

New to me 2000 200 saltwater series.i have used various lower gear lube in my rigs for past 35 years.usually avoiding the overpriced manufacturer brands and opting for what was on special.lubrimatic,walmart brand,sierra etc.no issues ever.had 2 quarts side by side yamalube and valvoline.valvaline was synthetic blend.yama $20 ....valvaline on special $6 .sierra was $9.walmart brand made by ?? $6 .cant figure a good enough reason to spend on the yama.charlie

Yep, the Walmart lower unit oil has always worked for me....I believe some of the later model high HP Yamahas do require a special lower unit lubricant....
