2000 225 FICHT faults 51 and 54

Motor has been running fine. Had it out yesterday for the 4th, slow no wake touring the river then a brief run out on the big lake. Tied up for the fireworks. Fired up fine after that back to the dock, pulled it out and took it home. Out to the lake today. Started it up at the dock, died after 3 seconds and gave me a check engine light. Started it up again, with some throttle, ran rough and gave a steady alarm horn with the light. Shut it down right away. Took it home hooked it up to the computer and is giving me cylinder 1 and 4 open faults. Looking for a bit of guidance on what to check. Seems odd that both 1 and 4 went at the same time so I am thinking it is something other then a bad injector.

Finally dug into some wiring diagrams (better late then never) and found that injector 1 and 4 are fed from the power distribution panel from the same fuse. I will have to go to the storage unit and check the fuse. I hoping that is all that it is. But this will bring up the question of what caused the fuse to pop. I am hoping it is something simple like a bit of corrosion I can clean up.

Checked the fuses and they are all good. Did not have a battery with me to do further testing. According to the book (found the book on the motor) it is either the wire between the power panel and the injectors, or it is the power panel itself. Hoping its the wire.

Just a follow up to close this out. Went through the procedure in the book for trouble shooting and everything checked out. Brought the boat home hooked it up and it fired right up and ran. All I can think of is a fuse was loose or I got some moisture in the power distribution panel.

There have been PDP's out there that have to have connections re- soldered in them. Food for thought.

I will have to chance it for now. Going out of town for work and then headed on vacation with the boat as soon as I get back. I may pull the PDP off when I get back and give it a once over.
