2000 225hp Ficht fuel problem

Hi everyone, hoping I can get some help/info on this.

I'm getting fuel as far as the check valve but not to the injectors. Has spark and will fire with a shot of starting fluid. I have access to a parts motor and would like to try swapping the ECU box. It has warning label saying you must have ficht software to do so. I 'm about to buy it off ebay when I read all these reviews from people saying the software won't work for them, now I don't know what to do. Does anyone know if you really need it and can't just change one of these?
Or is there any other common reasons for fuel stoppage?

I have twin 2001 175 fichts and when my computer went out last year, I swapped the good unit over to the other motor just to verify it was the computer. You really need to have the software if you own these motors. The reason you need the software is to set the timing after you install your rebuilt unit. I have had to replace both of mine, and I used the software loaded on a palm pilot to set timing. I also use it to do all my diagnostics and to check on alarms, etc.
I used the guys at DFI Technologies in Orange Beach, AL to rebuild mine, and I am very satisfied. I actually love my fichts. Hope this helps.

You just can't work on these motors (Ficht or Etec) w/o the software. Interrogating the EMM gives you tons of info for diagnostic purposes. Don't waste your time w/o it and the cables to connect. I have Etecs and wouldn't consider working on the motors without the shop manual and the software.

So I could just swap it to verify that's the problem then dial in the used one with the software?

Why swap EMM's? Connect the machine w/ the s/w and run the diagnostics to find the fault(s). This is not a parts swapping world anymore. BTW, my s/w is write inhibited, meaning I can't change the injector duration, etc. Don't know whether yours would be as well.

check #7 fuse .check fuel pressure 36 psi at cranking should hold 20 psi for 20 min .before you start swapping parts you need to eliminate other caues like voltage inputs / outputs you really need a shop manual.
