2000 50 hp tilt cylinder cap removal

I am looking for a way to remove this cap to clean out and replace the seals. What is the latest trick for getting this apart without tearing it up?
I seen that there is a sticky note made for this but I can't seam to find it.

Usually they use a two post spanner. They are available in vest quantities on Amazon and others.

I saw a guy with the same problem ... he modified a comment cheap CRESCENT wrench and installed 2 posts (maybe bolts) in the jaws to make an expandable

pin spanners are dirt cheap (half the cost of the adjustable wrench)

agree ... he must have had and old one on the bag...cost $0 and fully adjustable

Got it! I actually made a spanner out of 1/4" x 2" flat bar that was about 20" long. I took measurements of the cap pin holes, the piston was just a hair over 5/8" in diameter so I cut a slot to allow for that and it came off pretty easy... I say that... It was in a vise and I had the 20" of leverage.

I know it's not pretty, but I didn't want to wait three days for a tool to come in. It took about an hour to throw together.

About 10 years ago, I did purchase one. A cheap one from Harbor Freight. Self fed wire welder. It only caused frustration. Not really heavy duty enough to do anything I wanted to do. I've looked at some used ones from time to time, but now my boating takes up most of my spare time (and money). And my boys have boats, so it's great to call them up and decide what beach we want to meet on for the day! Hanging out with the kids and grandkids seems to take precidence over a lot of other things. If you don't have some, you need to get some and do all that you can to keep them living close to you. All 3 of my sons moved away from us here in Savannah, Georgia, but it didn't last long. They missed the water!!
