When I take my boat to the water, it takes, what I think too long to start. Seems like it has to turn over alot before it cranks. I make sure than I have the fuel bulb pumped and then I make sure I choke it. Am I missing step to get it to start? I usually have to advance the throttle to make sure I get it to start. Then if I go and fish for a while and the motor cools back down it will get hard to start again. Anything I can do to make it work better?

Thanks
Nick

It's lean could be choke not working, dirty low speed jets or miss adjusted low speeds or the operators starting procedure.

Well, is there anyways you can school me on the proper starting procedure and maybe we can start from there. My service manual lists 21 different causes for this, with improper starting procedure as the 1st.

Thanks

It's ok to lift the throttle lever for starting, that's his only use!

When cold:
1- prime the bulb till hard
2 - lift the throttle lever halfway
3 - push choke for 10 sec
4 - turn key and, while it fire, back off the throttle lever to stay under 2000rpm
5 - let run for around 30s to 1 min, until you can completely close the throttle and let it at idle without shutting off.
6 - go

When hot
1 - turn the key and go!

BTW, i have the exact same engine
