2000 90 hp johnson

I've got oil coming out the prop, is this a prop seal problem or something else, also can i fix it or does it refer a machanic also will it be good to put in a new water pump 8)8)

Is the oil coming from the center of the prop or from the gap between the back of the prop and the lower unit housing? If its from the center of the prop, its just exhaust residue and not a problem. If its between the prop and the housing, its a seal problem. Only you can determine if you can do it yourself. Without a service manual you can screw things up and take about ten times as much time and money as it would normally cost and spend a great deal of time here asking for help. Stop at your library and see if they have outboard service manuals. While they may not have one for your exact engine, if they have one for any later year Johnson/Evinrude you can study it and determine if you have the skills and tools required.

As for the water pump -- if it hasn't been changed in a few years it's overdue.

Thanks for your help , i took the prop off an theres alot of oil behind it also , after killing the engine the oil was dripping from the prop as well behind it..

Put some oil on your finger and smell it. Lower unit lub has a very distinctive odor to it. Remove the lower unit drain plug and compare the color and smell of the oil. Exhaust oil will be quite black and lack the distinct odor of lower unit lub. If the prop shaft seal was bad, you would likely have some water in the lower unit lub as well and it would come out milky looking. With the prop off, stick your finger in the housing around the prop shaft. That's where the exhaust comes out and exits through the center of the prop. If that area is oily, its exhaust crud.

its black oil not gear oil , but still right much has dripped out you think this is a problem still.

It is apparently not lower unit oil so that's a good thing. How much oil are we talking about? If the engine is running ok otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. You might pull the spark plugs and check their condition. If they are black and oily indicating an overly rich condition I'd suspect a VRO problem or the carbs may be due for a rebuild.

Forgot to mention that a decarb (decarboning) using SeaFoam would rid the engine of excess carbon and gunk that could be the cause of this oily mess. The process is outlined in many posts here. Search for "Decarb".
