2000 BF 90 - Engine Stalling - Fuel Line Empty

My 2000 BF 90 is stalling on a frequent basis when I increase the throttle. The fuel bulb is dry when I check it after stalling. If someone pumps the bulb while I increase the throttle, then the RPMs rise fine. From previous threads, its appears I have fuel pump issues.

Should I start by replacing the fuel pumps? Or could the pump be clogged/dirty? It looks like there are two pumps:

Any ideas on which pump to start with?

try simple things first like do you have the gas tank vent open?? no vent will suck gas line dry then its gonna quit ?? and primer bulbs and fuel line do get old after time too

IMHO it's not your fuel pump. The pump must be working since you report that your primer bulb is dry. The pump is what is sucking the fuel out of the bulb to make it dry. The reason it's dry is that not enough fuel is coming into the bulb to replace what the pump sucks out. Seems you likely have a restriction or blockage in the bulb or somewhere in the fuel line on the tank side of the bulb. Squeezing the bulb temporarily overcomes the restriction/blockage.

Try connecting a separate portable fuel tank with a separate fuel line to your BF90. If she runs fine, then try connecting your existing fuel line to the portable tank. If she runs fine then you ought to take a look at the check valve in the outlet of your original tank, or as Randy J said, your original tank's vent. If the problem recurs using the portable tank and your existing fuel line, then either your original primer bulb is bad or the original fuel line is collapsing internally; replace the fuel line. You can confirm the latter by connecting the separate fuel line to your original tank which should give good operation if your original fuel line is the problem.

Good luck.
