2000 evinrude 115?

I was going to buy a 78 mako but had a old man two houses down put his wellcraft 18 up for sale. boat is clean and well cared for. he hit me with a great price and I bought it. it has a 2000 115 on it. I did compression check and it came back 120 to 122 on all four cyc. it starts fine and idels great. haven't had a chance to sea run it yet(damn cold here in jersey) anyway my question is how are this engines .I have read it was the 150 -200 hp motors that were bad.is that true .also when I tilt it up oil comes out of the engine. read that this is normal..really?? thanks guys for any info. ~matt~

it is probably a Ficht fuel injected Motor.......and it has a horrible reputation................


but many are stillrunning

Check with a local BRP Dealer and see if it had all of it's updates. They can find out in their computer.
