Just purchased this boat and Motor, and was told by the prior owner you had to purge the water jackets prior to starting or else it would not start. The water pump output back of the motor below the cowling output has a 13/16 plastic plug was told to screw a water hose into that or else the motor would not start. I've had a lot of boats and motors and have never heard of this. Just checking to see if anyone else has to do this also

If you can cancel the purchase I would.

Even with the hose running w/ears at the water pump intake it attempts to fire and run but won't. But if I unscrew that 13/16 plug put a water hose on it and run it for 2 minutes the motor fires right up so I'm wondering if there is a sensor in the water jacket at the power head not working properly like I said just got it now I got to figure it out LOL

FICHT pre ETEC,s are best serviced with the EV diagnostic SW running on a windows laptop. IT is the only way to know what is going on.
