Hi,

Yesterday I was winterizing my engine and I found a sensor that was loose in the block and I was wondering what that sensor is and should it be tight in there? I tightened it up for the time being, but haven't run the motor since then. I have included a picture of the sensor with a red arrow pointing to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That is the engine temp sensor, and yes it should be tight. Don't overtighten it though because it is easy to break. Sometimes for no logical reason a monkey will sneak under the cowling and loosen things. Hope this helps

Thank you for your help. If you overtighten them, do they break internally or externally? I tightened it in there pretty good, but i didn't crack anything externally. Thanks!

It would crack externally. If you broke it you would know it.
