2000 evinrude ficht ram 150 - problems with gearshift and firng misses

hello folks ! today i made my first ride with my new boat and get two problems :

the engine ( ficht ram 150) starts immediately and idles fine, but when trolling it sometimes misfires , drops in rpm for a second and then kicks in egain. the check angine light illuminates periodically- sometimes on then off again. plugs arte brand new ( champion xc12pepb) and correctly gaped and indexed. i feel it may be water in fuel and will replace the fuel filter- but of course any other ideas are very welcome. the engine is NOT in SLOW mode- i reved it out to about 3000- beyond that i did not tried without trusting the engine.

the second problem : the gear ( OMC original gearbox and linkages) kicks in when you pushed the lever so wide forward or rear that the engine starts to go up with the revs. basicly the gear should be fully in when the engine is still in idle. when the gear is in all seems normal, the shaft seems not to be spun.

how can i adjust the gearshift linkage at this engine and the OMC box?

well. the missing at higher rpm,s were due to completely dirty fuel filters. i replaced the big filter/ water separator and changed from delphi to sierra marine heavy duty filter/ separator. i also changed the fuel filter at the engine. now it runs smooth and like a hell, no engine warning , no missing- the engine simply got not enough fuel due to clogged filters and water in them .

the shift problem was strange : the bearings at the lever which connects the linkage to the main gear change bolt were stucked and so the mechanism was very hard to move. i replaced the bearings, adjusted the linkage at the engine and now the gears kick in very smoothly.

the pre-owner seemed never to change any fuel filter, and also never greased the gear shift mechanism. i am happy that it was nothing serious, but a lot of work to find out where the fault is.

no problem ! of course you will not solve a real problem with just forums posting, but maybe some others can benefit from it. well, my engine runs now without any problems and i must say the 2 stroke V6 ficht is a real beast. unfortunetly i live in an area with speed limits on water - and this engine is not build for this

florida, with or without a boat, is a nice place to be- thats for sure !
