I have a 2000 four winns 230 horizon and I had about 10 people on it the other day and we were racing back to shore to make it before sundown. we were at full throttle and the engine began to over heat. We shut it down and checked for clogging on the outdrive where it sucks the water in and it was clean. Then we started it up and drove back at half speed and it didn't over heat again. When I got home I got one of those clamps that pumps water to the outdrive so you can run the engine out of water and ran it for about 10 minutes and I had no heat issues. What could have caused this and any suggestions for a solution would help. I think that maybe becuase we had such a large load on the boat and we were running WOT that it over heated, but i would think that with cool lake water being pumped into the engine that this wouldn't be an issue. I believe that the boat has the 5.7 liter engine.
