good afternoon, after alot of research with no outcome i hope someone here can help. i bought my boat used from a buddy (he bought it new) and have spent alot of time in it over the years. to get to the question at idle it is running about 250-300 acording to tach. this is a factory tach from honda and between the 0 and 1000rpm there is a line thats just above 0 and this is where it idles(below where 500 would be). talked to many shops and they said bad tach so i bought a new one and it reeds the same.at wot with a 13 3/4 x15p prop i get 30mph off gps but only about 3400 rpms. boat is a 1860 crestliner set up for bowfishing so it is fairly heavy. asked my buddy about it and he said he never paid any attention to it because the boat always ran fine which it does. Is this right? owners manual says wot should be between 5-6000rpm.thanks in advance for any and all help.
