2000 johnoson ocean pro

I recently bought a 2000 sea pro 190 dc with a 2000 johnson 115 ocean pro. have taken the boat out twice and have troubling with the motor idling and going into gear (forward or reverse) without it cutting off. When it does go into gear the motor runs great and gets on plane quickly. It seems to stall at low rpm.

anyone have any suggestions?

I just had the same problem. I had to rebuild all 6 carbs on my 225 and the vro pump as well. I tried to "adjust" too much stuff to get it to idle but most likely the fuel is old, or sit in the tank and lines too long before you bought it and now you have something clogged in the fuel system. rebuilding the carbs is not a hard job, just got a few do's and don'ts. If you decide to try this yourself, send me an IM and Ill give you the particulars on what I did.

get a service manual and check idle timing. Make sure idle is set to spec. If that stuff is OK, maybe you have dirty carbs.
