At WOT & Full Trim (62 mph) my 18' bass boat steering is entirely too tight for my liking. For me, this is a potentially dangerous condition as the boat is VERY difficult to navigate on the water. Can anyone look at the attached image, and advise me on what I should change, if anything? There are 2 cables for steering this outboard, but only 1 is connected. I'm unsure if this is correct, as I just purchased the boat this spring. Thanks for any advice in advance!

Is the steering too tight, or does it pull one way? If she pulls one way, you can adjust the fin above the prop to try and compensate. At high speeds, that fin could be out of the water or be insufficient. There are torque cancelling devices one can add to help the pull.

If the steering is too tight, check the swivel pin wear.

You probably should have both cables connected, since you have them. Consult the manufacturer's web site to see how they should go. A 150 HP motor on your boat is OK with a single cable, but better with two.
