I bought a used johnson 50hp off of some clients, and right now I’m in the wiring phase of. Y duck boat build, and am close to firing it up. When making the remote connections on the engine unnoticed it’s missing a bolt.

I was using the schematic for a 2000 johnson J50PLSIF, as i can’t find anything for my specific model, Johnson 2000 50HP Long Shaft, Model J50VLSIG S/N: G04880135. I used this schematic and was emailing with Crowley and we thought it was bolt 40 part 0322323, but it isn’t, that bolts a good bit too long.

Pics of missing bolt. Any info would be appreciated. Also, if anyone knows if it would be safe to run until i get a replacement, thanks For any and all help!

Well----I do not believe anything is missing at all !!!!.------That might be a provision for a temperature gauge sending unit.----I would say the CROWLEY folks would know that.

I was thinking the same thing.
I’m sure that head is used on many different models.

Part #10 in this kit.
You should be fine without it.

What is that kit for? It came with the warning gauge and wiring with. Bullet connectors for 2 other gauges, i believe a tachometer and trim
That's the temperature gauge kit accessory package for your engine. Your motor comes with the audio alarm.

I’ve been rebuilding a 1972 StarCraft Mariner into a duck boat, almost done, and i was worried this was gonna slow me down. Thanks so much for the help.

If anyones interested, here’s the thread I’ve been posting in as i redid it.

For the record, I believe it is for a temp sender. I have something similar on my '98 Johnny.

As an easy doublecheck, sender will have NPT tapered threads, and a bolt will have straight threads.
