Hello all. New to forum as member but not new as to reading them. Have a 2000 johnson 50 2 stroke whith 12.5 by 13 prop on 14 foot fiberglass boat. Trihull boat weighing, i dont know...400 to 500 lbs? trimmed out runs 33.4 mph with gps and screaming at 6600 rpms. At 5000 rpms, it runs about 25 to 26 mph. Motor WOT range is 4500 to 5500 and av plate seems fine. Only me (about 160 lbs), a gallon of gas and battery in boat at the time. Load will be about 300 or so lbs more with done with gear for fishing. What prop do I need and i want stainless. Been looking at 11.75 by 17 Stiletto Triad ii or 12 by 17 Solas New Saturn. Right props? Will rpms come down enough. How much hole shot will I lose. It really jumps out now and shoots right to WOT. Really too much. Thanks to all and really appreciate alls expertise.

You've got the right idea. Your WOT is too high, so you lower it by increasing the pitch of your prop.

The "how much" is where the heebie-jeebie dark grey hoodoo magic comes in.

Do you think thats enough pitch or do i need to throw cinderblocks in it to weight her down. HaHa. I cant find any props with anything over 17 pitch that will fit the 50. The space will not allow a 13 inch or larger diameter prop. Too much motor for the boat?!?!?!?! Never too much power is my thoughts!!!

Come on guys...I need your help. I know you know your stuff and have read many very detailed answers here. The 50 came off 24 ft pontoon so i have no idea what else to do but reprop. Is there anything else to do...are motors set up any differently on a pontoon? Timing...or other. I did notice that the spark control rod length is longer than what the manual calls for. Would that throw things off. The motor runs and sounds great. And this isnt my first boat...i have had many, but never had the pleasure of setting one up. Which i enjoy, by the way. Especially with the help of you! Thanks for any advise!!!!

There is a 19" listed here ss but there are probably 8 or 10 different 17" props listed.
A 17" would lower rpm 600 to 800 rpm.
The dealer setup my 88 50 Evinrude with a 19" al prop for my 390 lb 18' Crestliner utility. About 1000 lbs all up with me driving.
Unfortunately in those days we under informed didn't have any gauges on that simple boat.It had great hole shot and nearly flew above the water.
You could get a 17 and if its not enough have a good prop shop add some cup or more pitch.
