Motor dies when throttle down. When motor idle's<br />could see the fuel in filter staring to drop have to pump primer blub. Could it be a bad fuel pump?

Check the pulse hose from block to VRO pump, the starter base rubs a hole in the hose. If this is the problem, grind a notch in starter base.

Re: 2000 Johnson 50hp

I am having the same problem with my Johnson 50hp engine. We have replaced all of the hoses, tried a new fuel pump, a new filter, cleaned out the Carb. The oil injection system was disconnected. It was running great last weekend, and then we took it out the weekend after and it wouldn't keep running unless you pumped the primer bulb. We are out of ideas, any help? We have tried almost everything?

If you are still using the pulse hose nipple from the crankcase to operate the fuel pump. You need to recheck the pulse hose, nipple and threaded hole in the block. If you did not grind a notch in the starter end cap, it will rub a hole in the pulse hose, some times one hour running time. If the hose is leaking, will cause lean fuel to all cylinders, lean fuel to lower cylinder, rough running, low power, and if not corrected powerhead replacement.

could be as simple as (not) opening the vent on the tank. Its hot out easy to forget.
