Hi, thanks in advance for replies for this one may be tricky. This outboard is a 2000 60hp, I am no mechanic but I will explain where I am at this point. I bought this motor a few years ago and it ran like clock work at first then it would act up not running past 4g, I would shut it off and restart and it would run fine then next start same thing 4g rpm no more. I removed the oil injection and mixed the fuel it then ran full rpm no issues for 2 boating seasons untill Dec 2018, same thing would only run low rpm but tach wasn't working, 20 mph, the boat usually would run 33 mph with 3 people and a 30 gal full bait tank. The boat then sat in my heated garage until 4 weeks ago with startron fuel additive. I started it at home with muffs and fresh fuel and noticed no water coming from the tube, checked thermostat and no obstructions, pulled lower unit and found that the impeller housing and impeller were melted not functioning. Replaced housing and impeller wondering how dId this happen then remembered having it in the Chesapeake with seaweed continually getting around lower while anchored during mid summer, I never heard a warning buzzer for overheating during the last trip in December. I tested the warning buzzer by itself and it works, the purple wire has power from the key to the tach but when testing the tach I realized the ground in the tach harness is not grounded. I jumped a ground to the tach and it now works. I grounded the heat sensor at the motor and it beeps and lights up the warning light on the tach. I then started it and see a no oil light lit up, weird since it has been disconnected for 2 years. My friend an outboard tech disconnected a wire and it went off. Thinking this was the problem tested on water....same thing 4g rpm, I then unhooked yellow wires to disconnect the charging system....same thing, it was charging up to 15.0 volts before disconecting, the spark is strong, compression is 130-135 on all 3 cyl. Can't figure this out and my friend who is an amazing outboard mechanic is not sure. I am grasping at straws. Somehow the ground in three main harness to the tach is not grounded as well, would this be a problem as well Thanks for any ideas.
