Once engine gets warm, #3 cylinder looses spark (timing light confirms this) Checked spark plug, spark plug wire, swapped ignition coil, swapped out powerpack, bypassed stop wire, disconnected rectifier, disconnected control box wire harness at engine - still no spark. One symptom is that when I turn the ignition key off (with all wires connected)the engine continues to run (this does not happen every time though). I gather that my sensor coil/timer base is the problem.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular problem?...
Is there something else I should be checking?
I plan on borrowing a Stevens cd-77 peak voltage meter and proper ohm meter and checking the sensor coil.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Turning the ign. sw. off and the engine continues running indicates the powerpack is not grounding out. This could be the switch, a loose connection or a bad connection in the wiring harness. With the engine running, disconnect the cable to the remote control at the plug and see if the miss stays or goes.

c/6

Hooty
