I have a 2000 Johnson 90hp that idles rough with the air screws 10 turns out. If I run them in to 5 or 6 turns it will not idle. How many turns out are these carbs suppose to be set at? What type of carb issues causes this? Thanks for your help!!

Warped float bowls ?----Why do you think the rough idle is a carburetor issue ?-----What other trouble shooting was done ?

I had the powerpack, coils, plugs and sensor replaced and the idling has gotten worse since. Do you think it is the bowls or the carbs need kits? Thanks for your input.

Also, When I turn the idle air needles in or out it changes the way it idles so I figured it had to be the carbs. I'm trying to get the settings for the air and set it back to factory to see if it will idle.

Picked up a 2001 model like that.-----For to be rebuilt.-----Had been installed and owner failed to understand that oil injection had to be commissioned and checked.-----All pistons were scored.

I have 120 comp on all 4, the engine will run 40mph @ 5400 rpm's, It just will not idle.

You have to set carbs in water with a load. Cannot be adjusted on muffs. Starting setting is about 5-6 turn out and adjusted to final settings in water,in gear untied. If it wont idle at preliminary setting you have leaking side cover gaskets, leaking intermediate gaskets on throttle bodies, leaking/wrong carb mounting o-ring

Thanks so much, that gives me a starting place.
