Hello Gentlemen, I have rebuilt my carbs, throttle body and needle screws cleaned and wrote down each screws "turns in". The turns in were all different-10-9-9.5 on stbd bank and 7.5-6-6.5 on port bank. So... I was talking to the local mechanic about a link and sync and he said "Why?" He said if I hadn't changed any settings or timing or whatnot that it did not need a link and sync. Interesting, don't you think? A mechanic turning you away? Turning down a chance to make 60 bucks and hour? Anyways, he looked up the needle screw settings and said it should be 4 or 5 turns out. The Cymer's I have doesn't list settings for my year of engine. So, I thought I'd give it a shot and took the shrouds off and put my baby in the water at the local ramp and turned them to 4. Motor wouldn't run. Tried 5 turns and it would start but slowly die. At 6 turns it sounded pretty good so I took it out for a spin. Pretty loud without the silencer on! It ran great, even a mile or two and hour faster than usual. So, I turned it out to 7 turns to see and it seemed the same. What's up? What's up with the mechanic's answer and what's up with the turns on the needle valve? I'm just a junior mechanic and am learning. Am I obsessing over an engine that runs apparently fine? That's what my buds say. Appreciate any insight you guys might have. KevinK
