2000 Merc 175 EFI fuel pressure problems

Please help me figure this one out. I can not hear the fuel pressure prime up when I turn on the key but it will if I hook up a battery charger. So I figured bad cranking battery. Put a new battery in get the same results. Any ideas????

Is the charger on boost?

No, I should have been more specific. I should have said "when I plug the on board battery charger in". I'm not sure what amps it puts out. It's the factory 3 bank charger on a 2000 Triton TR19.

Update.....Took it to the dealer. They said the electronic fuel pump is bad. $640 for new pump, $40 for new gasket & $130 for labor.

Be very careful when getting electronics priced. I just recently received a price quote for an electric fuel pump for a 200 EFI (1999). My first pricing was for $560.00 and the second was for 225.00. May be worth checking around?
