Re: 2000 Mercruiser 5.7 Horizon MPI
WOW! What a day yesterday. Called the tech ( Bay Marine, Signal hill, CA) to see what the status is and now he tells me the ECM is going to cost us $2400plus labor, not $1500. So I started asking him questions of why this would happen and if he checked the 5V supply and some other questions that were in the service manual. He brushed me off and gave the phone to some one in the office. This ahole started going off on me and giving all this BS, telling me he has 30yrs of expereience and he never makes mistakes , 100% sure it's the ECM blah blah blah. After giving him a piece of mind, he tells me to pick up my boat. I told him to get the boat ready I will pick it up first thing in the morning. I got a hold of newport_dave on this board and arranged for him to take a look at the boat the next day.
I get there next morning and this ahole started giving me BS again, telling me he was respectful to me last night, I told him to STFU and he calls the cops on me like a little baby.. I guess he couldn't handle the truth. The cops get there and I tell them my situation and the cops agreed with me. He said there is no way he would put up that kind of money without asking questions. My friend goes in to pay the bill and they charged 6hr of labor for diagostics. My friend tells them that is not acceptable and they guy gves him half off. Total of $267. I get on the boat to see if everythig is normal. The shaft was NOT BOLTED TO THE TRANNY, TPS WAS OUT AND PLUGS ON ECM WERE SPLIT. My friend goes back in to till them and he wanted to charge to put them back the way I brought it to him. I was going back in there to give them a little more of my mind but my friend talked me out of it. He knew now it was going to get ugly..
We get the boat and take it to newport_dave. He gets on board and within minutes of scanning he relizes the fuel pressure plug was plugged in the TPS and vice versa. Boom! Our boat is back to normal again. THANKS DAVE.
Well guys... newport_dave saved our boat AND BAY MARINE tried to pull a fast one on us. I guess he figured I knew a little too much (Thanks to all that helped on this board) and would be better off not doing the job.
AGAIN THANKS TO NEWPORT_DAVE FOR FIXING OUR BOAT AND BEWARE OF BAY MARINE.
