I just picked my boat up from the shop where it had the carb rebuilt, fuel pump replaced and entire fuel system clean out, including tank. It starts up great but when i put into gear and give her any throttle she just coughs and losses power. I can baby it and eventually get her WOT but when I power back down to idle and apply more throttle, the same responce.

When i get past a cetrain point on opening throttle, she takes off suddenly. Actually, at WOT she has never run so good. I plan to pull it out of the slip next week if needed but i know this has to be an easy fix. She idles at 600rpm, which is about 150 rpms less than normal.

Can you point me in the right direction on how to adjust this carb? Is there a manual that I can view to help me out?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Its suppose to be 90degrees on Sunday so i am hoping to her her going tomorrow.

Re: 2000 Mercruiser fuel issue

Sounds very much like the accelerator pump is not working properly...

^^^ Agree

I put a kit in my carb last year and after a trip or 2 the engine started doing the same thing. I thought to myself, how the heck does an accelerator pump go bad that quick. Turns out it wasn't compatible with the fuel (ethanol?) and swelled up, locking itself in the carb body. It was a new aftermarket kit for a Rochester carb and if I remember right, the acc pump had a blue lip seal on it. I had the old acc pump still and threw that back into the carb, it's been running fine since...
