My Suzuki DF 50 Cranks up at the turn of the key and sometimes runs normal, however there are times when I crank it and engage the throttle at about 2000 to 2500 rpm the motor shakes and will not continue to rev up. Sometimes I can turn motor off and wait a few minutes and crank it again ,it will run fine , but most times it will shake again. I can pull back on the throttle a bit and the shaking will stop and the motor will run fine at the lower rpm. I have repaced all filters and fuel lines added water separator , changed spark plugs, bought new 3 gallon tank to test with. I will also mention that it will shake when on water hose and muff.Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

It is a 2000 model and I purchased it about 6 months ago and was told it had been serviced 6 months earlier and had been maintained on a yearly schedule.

Update I put the boat in Saturday and the motor fired fine I idled out of the no wake zone and throttled up the motor and about 2000 rpm the motor started to shake again.I throttled back and it ran fine ,but when I gave it gas it would shake. I trolled around for a while at 1500 rpm and it ran fine . I anchored for about an hour ,and when I cranked the motor it ran fine . The motor only acted up one more time that day.

I would check all the wiring connections, and check for loose grounds on the motor and battery make sure all connections are clean, check the oil make sure it is half way on the marks

oil level ok.and I have checked battery terminals. I will dig a little deeper into wiring to see if there is a loose cnnection.I talked with a Suzuki dealer yesterday and he said it sounded like a corroded temp sensor that protects the motor by idleing back when motor runs hot. He felt it will eventually go bad {sensor}and the motor will not rev up at all till the sensor is repaced????? The motor is a 50hp 4 stroke EFI Suzuki.

If the sensors are a problem, it should set a code and flash the light on the tach.

Yes!
I have the same problem!
Just remove the sensor on the engine block and install new one... The sensor is made from aluminium coat (corrosion with salt water)..

The first simptoms was the engine fault overheat
the second simptom was when the engine was cold the alarm allways give me overheat.. so the problem is the sensor..

Re: 2000 Suzuki DF 50 want throttle up every time

MY MOTOR WAS USED WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND IS MY FIRST 4 STROKE. THERE WAS NO TACH WITH BOAT AND MOTOR. COULD THIS BE A PROBLEM. BOAT AND MOTOR BOUGHT TOGETHER IN 2000 AND THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF A TACH EVER BEEN INSTALLED ON CENTER CONSOLE. THE THROTTLE CONTOLL ARE TOP MOUNT AND NOT A SIDE MOUNT CONTROLL AND THERE IS NOT A KILL SWITCH WITH THE COTROLL.
