Re: 2000 Suzuki DF70 Thermostat replacement?

Just a side not question. When I run the boat I heard air sucking through a brass nipple attached to the intake manifold. When i my finger of the inlet the engine began to stall out (starving for air). Is there a hose that is supposed attach to this brass nipple? I read the entire section describing the intake manifold and could not draw a conclusion. I have also looked through various schematics and still nothing.

Re: 2000 Suzuki DF70 Thermostat replacement?

I want to update this post for all following and those who can benefit down the road. Every piece of literature I read concerning this issue listed referred to a buzzer and a warning light on the tach. And every helpful comment also informed me of the tach lighting up when the key was turned to the on position... this gave me an uneasy feeling about my tach not working correctly. After classes tonight I hopped back into the boat and found my tachometer wire going under the boat was chewed all to bits (rats), and when I tested the lights I checked them from the tach connectors. Long story short i connected the wires properly and turned the key to the on position. All the lights came on and the rev limit flashed 5 times.

I feel this will not help me diagnose my issue when I test the boat again tomorrow.

Ok I believe the problem has been fixed... I ran the boat on muffs again and water stream was weak at best. So i used a little ingenuity and took my pond's fake rock (used to cover up the pump) and filled it with water for the boat to run in. I am an idiot for not doing this earlier, but live and learn and now the boat is running great! I am not 100% positive, but the first barrel I used may not have cover the entire lower unit. Hopefully you will see some positive reports from me in the future! I sincerely appreciate everyone that has helped me through this process.
