I have a carb'd mercury 200 that idles too high. On muffs it idles at close to 1200 rpms. Last year in the water it idled at probably 1000-1100. In gear I am probably 800-1000 rpms which makes shifting hard and docking a little dicey. Factory spec is 650.

I just rebuilt the carbs and understand the concept of adjusting the mix screw, but is this my only idle adjustment? Is there no way to adjust all of them at once? I read somewhere that "link and sync" does not apply to these motors. Can anyone confirm or point me in the right direction? I have a Seloc manual but it covers probably a dozen different motors (at least) and is borderline useless.

If your merc is a 2000 with the 3 carbs, the link and sync procedures should still be followed. There is a primary pickup screw that you can adjust in the water to adjust the idle of motor. Its the screw at the top of the large black throttle arm piece. If you send me your email, I will forward you a great online manual for these motors with detailed instructions on carb syncing and idle adjustments.

I just sent the manual to your email. Hope it helps you get the idle all squared away! Good luck and you're very welcome!
