2000 Vmax 0x66 power failure/knocking..

Hey outboard GODS! I have a 2000 yamaha 150 Vmax 0x66 that started knocking horribly while running Sunday. I dont think it overheated, cause no alarms went off, however I know those alarms are not a sure thing.. Yesterday I pulled cover, and everything looks fine.... Turned key, and the knocking is still there when it turned over.. Could it be the powerpak..?
I dont think the water pump or oil injection failed, but guess its possible....

Not God here, but best not continue running motor until knocking noise is identified and repaired.....it probably won't get better like it is....

I wish I had more to give you guys... I took cover off, and there is no visible issues.. I noticed a miss a couple times prior to the noise, which caught my attention, as the plugs were fresh... Those CDI's are NOT CHEAP!!! MY GOODNESS!! I mean, I have found a couple used motors for $3500... not much more than the CDI... I don't suppose there is anything I can trouble shoot to eliminate the possibility of the CDI before bringing into a mechanic to open up?

The labor to disassemble, repair and re-assemble would be the big expense....at this time....BEFORE a rod comes through the side of the block!....I'd find a real technician and let him listen and look at it before going further....

CDI can be tested with the correct test equipment while on the motor.

how much a repair could cost depends on what is all bad. need to find that out 1st

a friend had twin DT150 suzuki motors on a boat. his son took it out on a trip and came back sying it had a knock
we found pieces of piston and wrist pin in the exhaust at the prop on one of the motors.
totally trashed block and crank
