I'm hoping someone can lead me in the right direction here. I'm on my 3rd season with a 125hp saltwater series (carb). Ever since it was new I pretty much needed to prime the engine to get it started. I looked into it last year and thought I found the problem, a local dealer suggested I check to see if I had a check ball anti bleed back valve mounted to my gas tank. I checked and didn't have one. I installed one and it seems to just barely help my problem. If I prime the engine via the primer Bulb the engine starts with no problems. If it sits not running for more than 5 minutes I need to reprime the engine. So far I've placed a check valve on the tank, replaced the primer bulb twice, and checked for leaks and have found none. Any suggestions??

Thanks Chris

Do you mean you have to squeeze the bulb again or push in on the key while starting after it sits??

I had a similar problem on a 40 hp merc. The problem was on the gas line connector to the engine. Or quick connect. I cut it off and went straight to the fuel pump, and tightened it with a hose clamp. I remove the connector on all my engines. If the bulb is going soft on you, the gas is either running back in the tank, Or its leaking air at the fitting. Its just a guess. But thats where, and how I fixed my problem. And by the way. Even though your primer bulb is new, Its man made and subject to fail.
Randycc58
