I'm considering buying a 2001 150hp Johnson,can anybody tell me when the bad years were for OMC & which model motors were most affected & shouldn't be touched?
If it is carbed it was a pretty good engine, Snappa. <br />They had some QC problems in '01 but any troubles there should be fixed by now unless it is a new "left over" engine.<br /><br />If it is in the crate (new) I would be sure to have a good warranty from Bombardier Rec. Products.<br /><br />If it is FICHT (DI) it must have extensive updates to be a good engine, even then it would be suspect.<br /><br />Good luck.
