My 25 HP starts reliably every time I back it off the trailer. It runs well. After running down the lake, shutting it off, and fishing for 5 or 10 minutes it does not want to start. I hit the starter and it barely stays running until I advance the throttle then she is good to go. Sometimes it conks out before I can get the throttle advanced. If I fish for 30 minutes or more after shutting it off, and hit the starter it fires right up and runs well. I am confused. Tank and hose are brand new. Once it is started it seems to idle just fine. Any ideas?

It may be time for a carb remove, strip, clean and refit...

If you have the service manual, it's real easy... If you do them all the time, it's real easy... If you have never done it before and try it without the service manual... you may have problems... Get the manual..

Carbs aren't difficult, just pay attention to cleanliness. Use a carb cleaner and dry compressed air... Not those farts-in-a-can you buy from electronics shops either.

Good luck,

While the issue points toward a carb cleaning, I would look at an idle speed adjustment prior to pulling the carbs. I don't normally say that to people with this issue but the fact that it dies when hot but seems to do OK cold or cool tells me you may just have an idle speed issue. I'll assume you have no tach? You may simply try bumping the idle speed up a touch first. If that doesn't help, a carb job may be in the works.
