2001 40hp merc

Can anyone help?I have a 40 merc that starts and idles perfectly,it runs at low speed in gear but when I give it half full throttle it stalls.I Cleaned the carb ,changed the gas,hose and tank.any help?

Did you fully disassemble the carb, clean every passage and reassemble it with a new kit? If so, make sure the fuel tank is vented, when the engine begins to stall quickly push in on the key. If it takes off you still have a fuel delivery problem. You can also try squeezing the primer bulb a couple times when the engine begins to stall. That too points to a fuel delivery problem. If the engine runs at idle but not at higher speeds I suspect a bad/weak fuel pump.

Thanks, I am awaiting a manual, will rebuild the carb and check the fuel pump
