Hey there! I just bought a 2001 V-18 with the factory 75 hp Tracker (Merc) and there is no warning beep or light when I turn the key on. I'm not super familiar with the warning systems on outboards it's been since the late 80s since i've had one. Is it a beep, a horn, a light..? What wire coming into the dashboard is it connected to? The boat is in great shape but I am concerned about the warning system for the motor, particularly for the oil injection system.

serial # ot428560
model 75ELPTO

Thanks!
Jeff

I've a 2000 90 ELPTO and it is probably the same. The warning buzzer only goes off if temperature is too high or if oil level in tank is low. You can test the buzzer by just grounding the lead going to the temperature sender with the key on. Its pretty loud depending on where the buzzer mounted. Just checked mine the other day after doing a major boat rewiring.
