I have a 2001 90 hp johnson ocean pro that cuts out sometimes at higher speeds. It runs fine at idle and at slower speeds. Sometimes (not always) it will cut out when going fast. There seems to be no set pattern. Sometimes it will run fine at all speeds. The mechanic has cleaned carbs and reed valves. found some trash in carbs and one reed valve replaced. All else was fine he said. Boat still did the same(cutting out). Checked fuel tank__good and clean. tightened some loose bolts on motor. Checked all vacuum lines__ok. Reset timing. Now one bank of cylinders is running 146 degrees and the other is running 106 degrees. Took out thermostats and swapped them to other cylinder banks and temps still run the same. Checked thermostats and they both opened at almost the same temps. One thermostat new last year and other 2 years old. Both seem to be working fine.Could difference in temps affect the way it runs at higher speeds. Also what could be causing difference in cylinder bank temps, especially after swapping htermostats..
