Hi all, I am in need of sound diagnostic ideas. May be someone has a great idea for me.
Motor is new to me, I have no history with it. Seems to run great to the untrained, fires up easy. Trouble was noticed with due to the oil sheen or slick, lower mid section is wet with gas/oil too. This is how the investigation began.

Quickly found #1 not firing by pulling plug wires
Inspection found melted regulator - REPLACED
Compression with gauge, many checks over again, shows - 100 PSI on all 3 cylinders
Carbs are whistle clean and synchronized
NEW plugs, based on old plugs looking new I now suspect the PO knew of the concern

#2 and #3 fire good, engine will run on either alone
#1 no fire and idle jet is ineffective

Have left regulator unhooked for testing purposes
Swapped CDMs every way possible - still #1
Unhooked CDMs - still #1
Swapped Stator leads - still #1
Stator tests good, OHMS and DVA checks

Lastest Attempt
New Trigger - still #1 no fire

The only things left are
magnets
stator
CDMs

Could the trigger magnet have moved. Some say this is possible?
Stator seems unlikely unless there is something specific to each cylinder and I don't believe there is.
CDMs would have to be all 3 but makes no sense because #2 and #3 run fine.

100psi seems low yet I know 2-stoke specs are wildly debated and they are all the same plus the 2 cylinders run great.
Can't believe there is a reed concern with the compression.
So I throw in a stator or CDMs or Tear it down?

Thanks for some good thoughts for me.

Steve
