HI, New here, any help greatly appreciated.
The other day my 2001 90hp two-stroke started to act up, kinda surging at near WOT. Problem got worse, at full throttle the boat won't come on plane and the engine hints at wanting to run better. Last year I replaced the fuel line and bulb from the through hull to the engine. Had a similar problem and found the inside of the line had deteriorated. (FWIW, ethanol free for as long as I've owned it). After chatting with my local factory approved mechanic ( who is still trying to work through last years list...) he suspected fuel issues and I've added drygas, replaced the fuel filter, drained the carbs, rebuilt the fuel pump, cleaned and reassembled the carbs with new gaskets and replaced the line from the tank, Starts and idles (never has been particularly smooth) will putter around the lake but still won't run at WOT. I've also checked the CDMs across the various pins according to a manual page I found on-line and they seem fine though my tests may not have been definitive. Any ideas on what to check next? Thanks, Tim

Can assure you the spark jumped on #1, that hurt! Not sure how to check the reed valves - any suggestions? I assume I can check the flywheel key by taking off the cover.. I'll get on it in the AM. Thx

Have you tried pumping the bulb with the throttle wide open? Can you put a "T" in the line from the fuel pump to the filter and check fuel pressure? Also, you can get a Thexton #404 Spark tester on Ebay for around $10 that will give better results on the spark test. Let us know when you find the answer.
