2001 Bayliner 4.3L 190Hp VDO Cluster Issue
Hi everyone. I have a Bayliner 2001 4.3L 190 hp 19' boat. It came with the infamous Bayliner VDO cluster panel. All the gauges seem to be running through this single panel. Yesterday I started the boat (with Don S's help ) and all gauges seem to be working fine. My temp, tach, tilt/trim, clock, fuel gauge, etc were all registering their approprite readings. I stepped out of the boat to check the lower unit to ensure water was coming out the rear. Everything looked and sounded good. She was running for several minutes. When I returned to the boat all my gauges were sitting at zero and the engine was still running smoothly. Does anyone know if there is a fuse that could have blown? If so where might I locate it. If not any other suggestions? Anyone know where i can get a new circuit board for this cluster panel?

Appreciate any assistance.

Thanks,
Rich

Re: 2001 Bayliner 4.3L 190Hp VDO Cluster Issue

Chances are the panel suffered the "loss of ground" problem. There is a post here some time ago (two-months or so) dealing with this issue and instructions on how to fix it. You will need to do a Forum Search (don't limit the search to just the Electrical foru8m) using search terms such as: "VDO Panel Ground" -- "VDO Instrument Panel Ground" or similar words. Google the issue as well.
