2001 Chaparral 233 Sunesta Single Prop Size?

How do I figure out what prop size I should use for my deck boat? It had a bad duo prop drive and I swapped it out with a 1.66 VP SX Drive and I wanted to know how to calculate what prop size to use. The engine is a 5.7 GL. Boat is 23 feet and dry weight is 3823 lbs Fuel Capacity is 58 lbs Top Speed on specs is 50 MPH

If I had to take a stab I would say start with a 19" pitch see where your WOT rpm land and go from there. This may be cheating a little towards the holeshot or loaded down side but should be in the ballpark

It would be great if you could find a prop shop or dealer to let you try a couple as you may have to dial it in.

Would be guessing cost of replacement vs single prop vs age of boat.

Call Ken at www.propgods.com Excellent on new boat / motor combinations. Used to do loaning / testing of props for reasonable costs.

why did you not keep a DP drive?

I'll end up reusing it on one of my cabin cruisers I'm doing a swap on. The 50 MPH specs were pulled online so likely not that accurate.

Luckily my VP dealer was able to point me in the right direction but they mentioned that other 233 Sunsetas use 17 pitch props for a single drive.

What ideal MAX RPM am I looking for when I have it on?

Not sure of what the exact wot rpm range is for your engine but would shoot for 4800-5000
