Alarm code for cmp sensor. Replaced cmp sensor same alarm code still emitted. Any ideals where to go next to clear warning code.

what is a cmp sensor?

did you clear the code and it came back in?

maybe there is a wiring/connection problem, not the sensor itself bad

Hi John,

I had a similar problem this year and went through quite a process trying a few things including replacing to sensor with no luck. I ended up removing, wire wheeling, and reinstalling my cam gear and the problem went away. Technically I put a different cam gear on as I have a parts motor - but aside from the location of the notches they seemed identical. Problem has been gone ever since. FYI you need to run the motor to remove the code - if the problem is gone it will alarm with key on the first time, then clear up and shouldn't come back.

yam: it's automobilespeak (obd ii).

CMP = Camshaft Position Sensor

and is differentiated from

CKP = Crankshaft Position Sensor

I agree with you...it could be a CIRCUIT issue.
