Yesterday I went in my boat and turned on the power. After 5 mins of sitting in boat the motor starts going down by itself. I hit the trim button up on the throttle and it stops when I press up, but when I release the button it goes back down all the way and I can hear the trim motor still running. I turned the power off for the boat and then back on and the trim motor stops running. I try tilting motor back up and it comes up no problem. I go to push down and it keeps going back down again.

Here are some things I have tried:
-I disconnected/unplugged the trim switch on the side of the cowl. (that did not work)
-Opened the box that has the trim relays. I changed them around to see if one was bad. (that did not work.)

I am planning on seeing if there is a plug I can unplug for the trim switch at the throttle. If anyone has any other ideas or have had this problem please share.

Updated: I unplugged at control box on console. The trim motor will still turn on and go down. I took cover off power supply for trim that has fuses and relays. The motor started to go down once again. I gave a tap to relay and it stops. When it started again a tap to any of the 4 relays a d it stops. On guessing the control box is shot. Anyone have to replace one of these for a similar problem?

Isolate and test trim switches with ohmmeter. They are probably fine. You have a bad down solenoid or relay. By tapping it you made the circuit open.
