these are EFI aren't they? could be a faulty sensor, and not fueling enough when cold to start motor properly.

There was a software upgrade for certain 2001 modles that improved starting, Your dealer can download it from the factory website, then install it on your motor.

Make sure you have adequate capacity batteries in your boat using the factory cable connections. You want a 750 CCA or better battery so the motor spins over fast enough and that the EMM voltage is above 9.6V.

Aquamann,Does it really say that?I don't doubt you,but it will help me convince customers not to just turn and crank.I tell them to at least let SystemCheck run, then crank.

DHP

I dunno know guys -- it seems to me that if you move the key to the "start" position the motor should turn over. No?

If you have more than 40 hours on the plugs, check the gap. When it is greater than .050 starting will be hard.

If it's FICHT, per the manual just turn the key to the start position for 20 - 30 seconds to warm up the sensors. Then crank her over.
