2001 Evinrude 25 HP 4 stroke

I am looking at the purchase of a new 2001-25 HP Evinrude 4 stroke and was told that this engine was made by Suzuki from a sincere dealer. He has no specs on the engine from OMC but gave me the 2001 specs for a suzuki. Can anyone comment on this in addition to the this engines ability to put on plane a 16 foot Aluminum boat weighting 420 #'s without engine or people, Thank you.

Hooper<br />I do not know. Today all Bombardier 4 strokes are made by Sukuzi and Carry the Johnson name but they only make a 15 HP then Jump to 40 HP. I just looked at the 15 HP at a boat show and was a little suprized the motor did not have a oil filter that I could see or dealer could point out. I only have the 2002 and 2003 catalogs not the 2001. Hope someone else knows.<br />420 lb sounds very heavy for a 16 foot aluminum unless it has a center console. If it was me I would go with the Mercury 30 HP EFI 4 stroke and I am no fan of Mercury but like the fact that it is EFI.
